What are NFTs?

NFTs (non-fungible tokens) are intended to be unique digital identifiers; a kind of “uncompromisable digital record”. They are not in fact anything like this, but this is what they claim to be.

The main uses for them so far has been to make digital art “scarce” — by making one copy the ‘original copy’, allowing it to be sold like a traditional artwork would be at a far higher price than a normal digital image could be sold for. (The price of high-price traditional art is also a scam).

NFTs are terrible for the environment. “Let’s make an NFT that helps the environment” is nonsense. Just don’t do it and you’ll help the environment more. Basically A Scam smh! People believe anything nowadays

Why Do People Hate It So Much?

Basically A Scam

NFTs don’t prove ownership — ordinary legal contracts are just as good, and in fact better since they are heavily regulated and can be taken to courts for a central resolution when problems arise

Unethical

NFTS give rise to phising and a lot of malware attacks. The weak link here isn't the technology, rather it is the users themselves. A lot of viruses can be coded along with that funny ape.jpg that can harm your device!!

Bad For Environment

Cryptocurrencies account for a small % of global emissions, but are one of the artificial things to do so — and will continue to become bigger and bigger in their emissions, because of the nature of the proof-of-work systems on which most cryptocurrencies rely.

Not Scalable

Cryptos Are Hard to scale, they are not reliable and safe. Even if one node in a decentralised blockchain is attacked, it can affect and put others at risk. Plus NFTS do not look good and dont even have a clear future or vision ahead!
